The U.S. Department of Commerce has selected San Jose to get a new U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The local sentiment is that having patents examined in the valley may enhance the communication between the inventor and authors and increase patent quality and decrease the delay in the development of patents. This is a big deal as a substantial percentage of the patents filed are filed by companies and-or inventors in Silicon Valley.
